Adopting
To adopt a pet we ask that you come and meet the animals we have for adoption. The animals listed on petfinder are just a few of our available animals. When you find one that you are interested in you may fill out an adoption application. Upon approval, you can take your new friend home today!

It is Iowa Law that all pets adopted from shelters are to be spayed/neutered. If you happen to adopt one that has not yet been spayed or neutered, you are required by law to get that animal altered. You will be required to sign an adoption contract and pay a $50 deposit in addition to the adoption fee.  Your $50 will be refunded to you when documentation is provided to us from your veterinarian that your pet has been surgically altered.

All animals adopted from the Humane Society of North Central Iowa will receive a free health exam from a number of veterinarians in the area. The free health exam must be done within seven (7) days of adoption. In the case that your veterinarian feels that the pet you adopted is not in good health, you may return the animal for a full refund.

All animals adopted from our Shelter can be micro-chipped through a partnership with Webster County Farm Bureau and are eligible for one-month’s free pet health insurance from ShelterCare Pet Insurance.

We reserve the right to refuse adoptions.
